Some readers have asked me to include pedigree charts on the site. Even though there are many free charts floating around on the internet, I decided to post a basic chart here as well.

Pedigree charts help you visualize a person’s ancestry. A pedigree chart is the standard form for entering important information (names and important dates) of ancestors. A pedigree chart links members of a family back to specific ancestors. These charts usually show how you are connected to your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and so on. When I started to trace my family tree, I used a pedigree chart to get started before moving on to a genealogy software tool.
